BIOGRAPHIE

Denis Parenthoine ?

Denis Parenthoine was born in 1967 in Saint-Brieuc. He began learning music at the age of 17, in parallel with his literary studies, he took private lessons from Anne Magadur, a piano teacher at the National School of Music in Saint-Brieuc.

He also took lessons in harmony and Counterpoint with the composer and teacher Yvonne Desportes and entered the writing class at the CNSM in Paris where he was taught for two years by the composer Alain Bernaud.

In addition to his compositional activities for piano and chamber music, he also composed pieces for symphony orchestra.

In addition, he teaches piano and music education in various structures in his region. In 2002, two of his pieces for violin and piano were published by Editions Combre.

His interest in acoustical concerns having led him to undertake in-depth scientific studies, he now divides his time between a teaching activity and a regular composition activity.

Music and the other arts?

Music is sufficient in itself. However, correspondences with other arts: theater, painting, literature are an enrichment.

Since the 20th century, music has often been combined with cinema.
